# Watch and danmaku
|

|
|
Open a file and you are on the player page.
|
|
|
|
## Playback
|
|
|
|
It is a web player. Play/pause, seek, volume, fullscreen are all there.
|
|
|
|
Leave halfway and progress is kept.
|
|
|
|
## Where danmaku comes from
|
|
|
|
Same idea as DanDanPlay: **one episode, one danmaku pool**.
|
|
|
|
1. You open a video
|
|
2. The system knows which show and episode it is (or you identified it earlier)
|
|
3. It asks the danmaku network for that episode
|
|
4. Danmaku floats over the video
|
|
|
|
So a 720P from one group and a 1080P from another, once matched to the same episode, share the same danmaku.
|
|
|
|
## No danmaku?
|
|
|
|
- **Unmatched**: [identify the show](/en/guide/scrape) first
|
|
- **Network down**: video still plays, just silent of danmaku. Retry later
|
|
- **Prefer a local file**: import an XML
|
|
|
|
### Import XML danmaku
|
|
|
|
On the player or the [Danmaku settings](#danmaku-settings) page, import a `.xml` danmaku file (the kind exported from Bilibili).
|
|
|
|
A video and a same-named danmaku file in one folder is also picked up.
|
|
|
|
## Danmaku settings
|
|
|
|
The **Settings** page's Danmaku section lets you set:
|
|
|
|
- On or off by default
|
|
- Opacity (lower it if it blocks the picture)
|
|
- Density (how many at once on screen)
|
|
|
|
You can also toggle while watching.
|
|
|
|
## A note on content
|
|
|
|
Danmaku comes from a public pool. If something bothers you, turn it off. Fanmu does not edit danmaku text.
