# Identify the show
|
|
|
|
Danmaku and posters both depend on knowing **what this is**. Get this right and the rest is easy.
|
|
|
|
## Automatic
|
|
|
|
On scan or add-to-library, the file name is used to guess:
|
|
|
|
- Which show
|
|
- Which episode
|
|
|
|
Then Fanmu looks it up on **Bangumi** for title, poster, and episode number.
|
|
|
|
## If the guess is wrong
|
|
|
|
The item is marked **unmatched**.
|
|
|
|
Nothing is deleted. Playback still works. You can leave it, or bind it by hand.
|
|
|
|
## Fix it by hand
|
|
|
|
Open the item:
|
|
|
|
1. Search for the show on Bangumi
|
|
2. Pick the right one
|
|
3. Confirm
|
|
|
|
You can re-scrape after binding to refresh posters and metadata.
|
|
|
|
## Why Bangumi
|
|
|
|
Bangumi has solid anime data and a real API. Not Douban, not TMDB.
|
|
|
|
If a niche title is missing there, you can only hand-edit the name, and danmaku may not match. Use [local XML danmaku](/en/guide/danmaku) as fallback.

|
|
